Who we are
This website, bedbugsgone.co.uk, is operated by JG Environmental Ltd (registered in England and Wales, company number 07568726), registered office Andrews House, 61 Wallingford Road, Uxbridge, UB8 2RW. For the purposes of UK data protection law, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, JG Environmental Ltd is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy.
If you have any question about this policy, or you want to exercise any of the rights set out below, contact us at [email protected] or on 0330 053 6126.
The personal data we collect
We collect only what we need to answer you and to do the work. That is:
- From the quote form: your name, email address, telephone number, postcode, the pest you are asking about, and anything you write in the message box.
- From the job application form: the role you are applying for, your name, email address, telephone number, postcode, and anything you write in the message box. You may also choose to send us a CV by replying to our acknowledgement email.
- From the web chat: anything you type into the chat, and the page you started it from.
- From WhatsApp, if you choose to message us there: your WhatsApp number and name, your messages, and a short reference code that tells us which page you came from.
- Collected automatically with any form: the page you submitted from, the page you first landed on, and the site that referred you. We use these to understand which pages generate enquiries.
- From your use of the site: standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed. Measurement data is only collected if you accept non-essential cookies.
We do not ask for special category data, we do not knowingly collect data from children, and we do not take payment through this website.
How and why we use your data
- To respond to your enquiry and carry out work you ask us to do. The lawful basis is performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering one.
- To consider your job application. The lawful basis is steps taken at your request before entering an employment contract, and our legitimate interest in recruiting.
- To keep records of enquiries and work carried out, for our legitimate interests in running the business and for our legal and accounting obligations.
- To measure and improve the website. The lawful basis is your consent, given through the cookie banner, and withdrawn at any time.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it with the following, and only so far as each needs it:
- Cloudflare hosts this website and provides the anti-spam check on our forms.
- Resend delivers our transactional email, including your acknowledgement and our internal copy of your enquiry.
- JG Pest Control receives service enquiries so that a technician can be assigned and the job carried out.
- PestArc, our job management system, records service enquiries and work history.
- Our group chat service (chat.jgpestcontrol.co.uk, run on PestArc) answers the web chat and WhatsApp messages, and keeps each conversation with your enquiry in our customer records.
- WhatsApp (Meta) carries your messages, if you choose to contact us on WhatsApp.
- Google, through Google Tag Manager, if and only if you accept non-essential cookies.
Job applications are handled separately from service enquiries and are not passed into our sales or job management systems.
Web chat, WhatsApp and our automated assistant
The web chat on this site, and messages sent to us on WhatsApp, are answered by an automated assistant working on our behalf, at any time of day. What you send is used to answer your question, give you a price and arrange a visit. If you would rather speak to a person, call us.
We use automated and AI-assisted tools to help us handle enquiries. They may process what you send through the website form, the web chat, WhatsApp and telephone calls, so that we can reply quickly and pass your enquiry to the right person. Anything processed this way may be handled by AI providers acting on our instructions and under contract, and it is not used to target you with advertising.
Telephone calls to us may be recorded, and a call may be answered by the same automated assistant, which transcribes it. We keep recordings and transcripts to confirm what was agreed and to help resolve any problem or complaint, which is in our legitimate interest and yours.
We may also disclose personal data where we are required to by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
International transfers
Some of the providers above operate outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum.
Cookies and similar technologies
Measurement and advertising storage are switched off by default on this site and are only switched on if you press Accept on the cookie banner. Pressing Reject leaves them off.
- Essential. Two first-party cookies,
gd_landingandgd_landing_ref, record the page you first landed on and the site that referred you. They last 30 days. Your cookie choice itself is stored in your browser’s local storage asgd_consent, not in a cookie. - Measurement, only after you accept. Google Tag Manager and the Google services configured within it.
- Video. Videos are click-to-load and served from youtube-nocookie.com, so nothing is set by YouTube unless you press play.
The web chat and the WhatsApp button keep a few small notes in your browser’s session storage for the length of your visit: whether the chat invitation has already been shown or a notice was closed, and, if you arrived from an advert, the advert reference so a WhatsApp message can be matched to it. Your browser deletes them when you close the tab. The chat window itself loads from our group’s chat service, which may store what it needs to keep your conversation open while you move between pages.
To change your choice, clear this site’s data in your browser and the banner will appear again.
How long we keep your data
We keep enquiry and job records for as long as we need them to provide the service and to meet our legal, accounting and insurance obligations, after which we delete or anonymise them. We keep job applications for the duration of the recruitment process and for a short period afterwards, unless you ask us to keep them on file for future roles. We can provide details of our retention periods on request.
Data security
This site is served only over an encrypted connection, form submissions are transmitted encrypted, and our forms are protected against automated abuse. Access to enquiry data is limited to the people who need it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your data, where there is no good reason for us to keep it;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, our processing of your data;
- ask us to transfer your data to another provider; and
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.
Marketing
We contact you about the enquiry or application you made. We do not add you to a marketing list because you asked us for a quote, and any marketing message we do send will include a way to stop it.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We review this policy from time to time. Any change is published on this page with a new date at the top.
